KwaZulu-Natal Maskandi artist uMlondi links up with Khaya and Stshomi on “Ngijola Nes’lima,” and the record lands as one of the more grounded and culturally rich releases to come out of the South African Maskandi space in 2026.
The title translates loosely to “I am dating a fool” – and that sharp, street-level humour runs through the record in a way that keeps things entertaining without losing the musical depth that Maskandi demands. Because uMlondi writes from real lived experience, the storytelling never feels performed.
The production blends traditional Maskandi guitar work with contemporary rhythm throughout. That balance gives the record crossover potential without stripping away its cultural identity.
Khaya and Stshomi both add vocal texture that complements uMlondi’s delivery cleanly. Together the three keep the energy warm and engaging from start to finish.
Stream “Ngijola Nes’lima” now – this one hits different when you understand what it is saying.
