Six years after “Nobody” became one of the biggest songs either of them has made, DJ Neptune and Joeboy link up again on “Okpeke (Dance For Me),” this time pulling ODUMODUBLVCK into the mix.
That reunion alone was going to get attention. But adding ODUMODUBLVCK to this particular record was the right call. His verse brings a completely different energy from Joeboy’s smooth hook, which stops the song from settling too comfortably into one mood throughout its two minutes and twenty-five seconds.
DJ Neptune himself explained the title directly. “Okpeke can be your girlfriend, side chick, sugar mummy, wifey” he said. That flexibility in meaning is actually what gives the song its universal party appeal. Nobody is excluded from what it’s about.
Released under Neptune Records, Greatness Republic, and Doki Music, this one comes at a time when DJ Neptune’s feature selection has been consistently sharp across recent releases. Also, the announcement earlier this week already had fans excited before anyone heard a note.
