Barry Jhay comes in hot on track two of “Barrystar Vol-2” with “Sicko mode,” and the title alone tells you this one isn’t meant to be calm or quiet.
After the brief setup of “Intro,” “Sicko Mode” is where the project properly starts moving. Barry Jhay switches into a different gear here, stepping away from the reflective, roots-heavy side people know him for and leaning into something more street and energetic. It’s a side of him that doesn’t always get the spotlight, so it’s interesting to hear him let loose on this one.
Coming off “Barrystar Vol. 1” and singles like “See Me See God” and “Fuji Explosion,” fans already knew this follow-up project would show range. “Sicko mode” confirms that early. He’s not playing it safe on this track, and that confidence carries the whole thing forward without needing much else. As the energy-setter on “Barrystar Vol. 2,” it does exactly what track two on an EP should do.
