“Questions” arrives as one of the more introspective moments on the “KING COAL” album, and Wande Coal handles it solo once again.
While a lot of the project leans into celebration, luxury, and big collaborations, “Questions” takes a step back from all of that. The title already hints at something more personal, and the song delivers on that feeling. It’s the kind of record you gravitate toward when you’re in a quieter mood, not necessarily looking for something to dance to but something to actually feel.
Wande Coal has always been able to switch between those two modes without it feeling forced. That’s part of what makes him different from a lot of artists in this space. Anyone who grew up listening to “Bumper To Bumper” or “Nowo” already knows he can carry emotional weight without overplaying it.
On “Questions,” he doesn’t try to answer everything he raises either. Sometimes a song works better when it just sits with the uncertainty rather than resolving it neatly. That honesty is probably what makes this one connect on a different level compared to the flashier tracks around it on “KING COAL.”
Worth slowing down for when you get to this point in the album.
