South African Amapiano producer and vocalist Mr Brown brings “Nkampane” back with extra firepower on the official remix titled Nkampane [Remix]
The original “Nkampane” already appeared earlier on King of Melodies alongside Shebeshxt, Memie, and Naqua SA – and it clearly hit hard enough to warrant a remix treatment as the album’s final statement. Saving it for track eleven rather than a standalone release shows Mr Brown understood this record had enough energy to carry the weight of a closing moment on a full project.
Shapa Memie is the key addition here. Where the original featured Memie in a different configuration, bringing in Shapa Memie on the remix adds a sharper, more aggressive dimension to a record that was already moving with conviction. Shebeshxt continues to be one of the most raw and consistent voices in the South African street scene right now, and his presence on the remix version carries the same unfiltered energy he brought to the original.
DJ Ree RSA threads through King of Melodies as one of its most consistent collaborative presences – appearing on “Judas,” “Konya Konya,” “Moyo Wangu,” and now here. By the time the remix arrives at track eleven, his role across the whole project is clear. He is not just a feature. He is a creative anchor that Mr Brown kept returning to throughout the album.
Closing King of Melodies with a remix rather than a new record is a bold choice – and it works.
This song is an excellent addition to your music playlist.
