“Soul of Agege” Kunmie brings Joeboy into the room for “Solace,” a standout cut from his 13-track debut album “22.”
The backstory matters here. “Solace” builds directly on the original version Kunmie released back in January 2026, which set up the emotional groundwork before Joeboy stepped in for this expanded version. So this is not a random feature. It is a continuation of a theme Kunmie was already committed to before any big name got attached.
The subject matter stays grounded despite the star power involved. Kunmie writes about peace, emotional refuge, and what it means to have someone steady beside you when everything else feels uncertain. He and Joeboy trade the question of whether love would survive without fame or money attached to it – a theme that hits differently coming from two artists who have both experienced rising visibility in real time.
Joeboy brings his familiar warmth to the hook, but he does not take over the record. Instead, he complements Kunmie’s more melancholic delivery, and the two voices settle into a shared frequency rather than competing for space. Kunmie co-produced the instrumental alongside The Kazez, giving the song a grounded bassline and delicate guitar work that lets both vocalists breathe.
Off the back of “Arike” and his acclaimed “Before We Became Strangers” EP, this is another sign that Kunmie’s 2025 breakout was not a one-off.
