The multi-talented Nigerian musician known as Obedo PF drops a confident new solo record titled “Ronaldo.”
The title says it all before you even press play. He’s comparing himself to the football icon, chasing that same consistency and drive. It’s a flex a lot of street pop guys reach for these days. Obedo PF just runs with it harder than most.
The beat hits differently from “Lagos” too. Producers built it around a punchy 808 pattern with moody, sparse synths underneath. A vocal chant loops quietly in the back and gives it that anthem pull. Nothing about the mix feels cluttered, and the vocals get room to breathe.
His delivery on this one comes off sharper, almost clipped. Short bars, no wasted space, and a bit more bite in his tone. That’s a shift from the smoother cadence he rode on “Lagos.” The aggression fits the subject matter well, though.
Lyrically, he’s not just chest beating here. He drops real struggles into the bars alongside the football talk, so the metaphor doesn’t feel cheap. It reads more like self motivation than empty boasting, and that’s the part that lands.
Two records in, Obedo PF is clearly stretching his range. “Ronaldo” brings the grit, “Lagos” brought the swagger, and both work because he sounds comfortable in either lane.
