Grammy-nominated Nigerian producer DeeYasso steps further into the spotlight with “What Have You Done,” a self-produced heartbreak record featuring Syemca.
The record continues a deliberate 2026 shift for DeeYasso. His credits already span Yemi Alade’s Grammy-nominated “Tomorrow,” productions for Dave, Sauti Sol, and Oxlade, and the Chike “In Love” collaboration earlier this year. But each solo performance release pushes the narrative further – this is a producer who can also carry a record with his own voice. “What Have You Done” builds that case more convincingly than anything he has released before.
Syemca is the right voice for this emotional territory. His recent collaborations with Chike on “Pity My Soul” and “Love Egbugomo” showed a singer who handles vulnerable, R&B-leaning material with genuine warmth. So on “What Have You Done,” he brings the emotional texture the writing demands – carrying the heartbreak and uncertainty through his vocal contribution without overshadowing DeeYasso’s own performance.
The self-produced arrangement stays atmospheric and mid-tempo throughout. DeeYasso keeps the electronic textures spacious enough for both voices to sit prominently in the mix. So the emotional tension in the writing lands clearly rather than getting swallowed by a busy production. Because a heartbreak record needs the vocals up front – and this one gets that balance right.
