Zambian rapper Muzo AKA Alphonso adds “Dar Es Salaam” as the second track on his forthcoming EP “No Campaign In Tanzania,” following opener “Uncle Ben.”
The title pulls from East African geography rather than any literal setting. And so “Muzo AKA Alphonso Dar Es Salaam” references that region to talk about artistic freedom and personal limits, which also fits with his larger desire to take his influence outside of Zambia’s borders. That kind of layered symbolism has become a signature of his writing, where place names and everyday references mean much more than what they say.
