South African deep house producer China Charmeleon stretches “Birds Sing” into its Extended Mix, keeping Brandon Dhludhlu’s emotive presence front and centre throughout the longer runtime.
Where the original sat inside China Charmeleon’s deeply personal “Lwandle” album as a tight, romantic statement, this extended version gives the same melodies room to unfold slowly. So the arrangement breathes differently here – every layer gets time to settle before the next one arrives, and that patience is exactly what Kasi Deep has always built its reputation on.
Brandon Dhludhlu’s vocal presence remains the emotional anchor of the track. His contribution carried real romantic and emotive weight on the original, and that quality doesn’t disappear in the extended treatment. Instead, it gets more space to land, so listeners feel each phrase settle into the mix rather than rushing past it.
China Charmeleon’s production instincts show clearly in how he handles the extra runtime. He doesn’t pad the track with filler – he uses the extra minutes to deepen the atmosphere, layering bright synth lines and soulful textures that reward close, uninterrupted listening.
Part of the “Birds Sing + Remixes” EP, this Extended Mix gives fans who loved the original something to return to when they want the full immersive experience rather than the condensed version.
Stream “Birds Sing (Extended Mix)” and tell us – does the longer runtime make the emotion hit even harder?
