South African deep house producer China Charmeleon reworks one of his most emotive tracks on “Birds Sing + Remixes,” a four-track EP built alongside Brandon Dhludhlu.
The original “Birds Sing” already carried real emotional weight, sitting on China Charmeleon’s deeply personal “Lwandle” album where romance and remembrance shaped every beat. So instead of leaving that song alone, he pulls it apart and rebuilds it three different ways here – each version finding a fresh angle on the same emotive core.
The Extended Mix stretches the original’s atmosphere further, giving the melodies room to breathe across a longer runtime. Because Kasi Deep has always thrived on patience, and this version leans fully into that instinct rather than rushing toward a hook. Ed-Ward then steps in for his own remix, adding a verse that Ghanamma described as packed with creativity, emotion, and lyrical brilliance – so this version pushes the song into more vocal-forward territory without losing its soulful backbone.
Buddynice closes out the EP with his own remix, rounding out a project that treats the original “Birds Sing” less like a single song and more like a foundation worth revisiting from multiple angles. So the four tracks together tell one story from different rooms in the same house.
China Charmeleon’s reputation for reinventing his own sound across bright synths, dim pads, and soulful samples shows clearly throughout this remix package. For deep house fans who loved the original on “Lwandle,” this EP gives that same emotional core several new lives.
