GENER8ION just dropped “STORM II,” the second half of a double single featuring Swedish rapper Yung Lean as lead vocalist. The audiovisual duo, made up of producer Surkin and director Romain Gavras, built this one as part of a larger cinematic project, not just a standalone track.

The whole “STORM” release unfolds as a short film set at a fictional British boarding school in 2034. Yung Lean stars in it as a disruptive student, and he actually wrote the lyrics and helped compose the music himself alongside GENER8ION and producer Canblaster.

Where the first part leaned chaotic and unnerving, “STORM II” shifts into something more orchestrated. Pianos and strings carry the track as Lean calls for unity, singing about staying united through the storm after a flurry of rallying chants.

Damien Jalet choreographed the accompanying visuals, and the suited-up schoolboys perform a hypnotic, almost ritualistic dance on the school steps. That physical, theatrical element runs through everything GENER8ION builds, blurring the line between music video and performance art.

Yung Lean’s performance earned real attention here, pulling him into acting territory he hadn’t fully explored before. The project eventually brought him to the MTV Video Music Awards, where he and GENER8ION performed “STORM II” live, recreating the choreography on stage for his first U.S. televised performance.

GENER8ION’s whole identity runs on resisting trend culture, building immersive worlds where music, film, and choreography all coexist. The orchestration and choreography turn it into something closer to a short film with a soundtrack than a conventional release.
