Maskandi artist INhlenge Zekezi stretches out on “Khula nawe,” an 11-minute track from the seven-song album “IYOLENDA NOM ALISHONA.”
The title roughly means “grow with you,” and the song takes its time to explore that idea. At 11 minutes and 28 seconds, it is one of the longest records on the project. That length is not unusual for Maskandi, where storytelling and a steady guitar-led groove matter more than a quick hook. So the track gives listeners room to settle in and follow the story at its own pace.
It sits third on the album, right after “Incwadi engafundeki” and the title track “Iyolenda noma lishona.” That position makes it a mid-album anchor. The project runs one hour and 16 minutes across just seven songs, which means every track gets plenty of space. “My darling,” “Lingiqonde ngqo!,” and “Ngaphansi kwetafula” fill out the rest, and “Sengihleli ngeDiff” closes the set.
The album mixes personal stories with themes that matter in the wider community. It uses traditional influences to share emotion and reflect on life, which has always been Maskandi’s job. INhlenge Zekezi keeps that tradition alive for longtime fans while giving younger listeners an easy way into the sound.
Because the songs run long, this is not background music. It rewards a quiet hour and a full listen.
