Nigerian rap star Blaqbonez keeps his “Like” run going with a boastful new record titled “LIKE 2021.” The title looks back at the year that changed his career.
It echoes “Like Ice Spice” and “Like Bezos,” so the naming pattern is clear. In 2021 he dropped “Sex Over Love” and opened Wizkid’s O2 Arena show. So looking back makes sense, since that run built his fanbase.
The beat is rich and confident, with big drums, a deep bass and bright keys that feel almost celebratory. Subtle chants fill the background, so it sounds like a party recap. Therefore, the track feels nostalgic and loud at once.
Blaqbonez raps with a playful boast and keeps the flow quick. He swings into melody when needed, as he has since “Bling,” so the transitions feel smooth. Because he sounds proud but amused, the nostalgia never gets heavy.
The words revisit wins, women and the rise from internet rascal to chart name. Quick references to that era keep fans engaged, while the humour stays intact. Meanwhile, the hook gives them a simple year to shout back.
Overall, “LIKE 2021” works as a victory lap with a sense of humour. It looks back without slowing down, so the energy stays high. Fans who grew with “Sex Over Love” will smile at it.
