South African amapiano act Benzoo links with Officixl RSA, Optimist Music ZA and Marvens on the new single Asiwafuni.
Asiwafuni runs 6:39, so the record takes its time. The tempo sits at 113 BPM in G minor, which is gentler than most amapiano cuts. Mixgraph tags it as a warm-up track, which suits an early slot in a DJ set. Its groove is straighter than nine in ten of the 6,499 amapiano tracks Mixgraph measured.
Officixl RSA is the easy name to place here. The Mamelodi and Pretoria producer signed with Sony Music Entertainment Africa. He has also worked with Mellow & Sleazy and Mr JazziQ. His sound is heavy on bass and made for the dance floor.
Benzoo was on Construction with him and Ulazi, so this is not a first meeting. Izolo came last year too, though that one carried five other names. Optimist Music ZA joined him on Fast Fast too, with Roscosteazy and JussGigi, and also appeared on Al Xapo’s Stance. Sjeba also lists the two together, with Boontle RSA.
Marvens completes the line-up, and an official music video is out on YouTube. Benzoo has more singles in this lane too, like Mopepe with Bukzin Keyz and Tango Supreme.
