Amapiano act Mbuzi gathers CowBoii, Kabza De Small, Scotts Maphuma and Sly on a crowded new record titled “Kutsa.” The title looks like a Sesotho word, so the song probably has a home-grown flavour.
Mbuzi just dropped “Intsimbi Rekere” with Kabza, and now he widens the circle. Four guests in one session means a lot of voices to fit. Still, a camp like this tends to know how to share the room.
Look for a rolling log drum, soft pads and a bass that glides instead of thumps. Light shakers probably tick underneath, and glossy keys float above. Kabza’s touch should leave the groove warm and spacious.
CowBoii follows with a smooth, flirty colour, while Scotts Maphuma adds a raspier tone. Sly then closes the vocal run with a sweeter edge, and Kabza ties it all together on the keys. The words probably touch on love, status and good times, and a short hook keeps the group in sync.
Five names could tangle easily, yet the groove gives each one a lane. It plays like a family gathering where everyone gets a turn on the mic.
