Pasuma has brought Fuji into a new conversation with FUJI AFRO, a 12-track album featuring Olamide, Qdot and Terry Apala.

The Fuji veteran is not trying to sound like somebody else on this project. He still has his familiar Yoruba delivery, but the beats take a different direction. Street-pop producer 2T UPONDEEBEATZ handles the production, giving Pasuma room to experiment with sounds that younger music fans will recognise.

One song that should attract attention is “IJO ALHAJI,” featuring Olamide. Their musical relationship goes back several years, and hearing them together again makes this collaboration particularly interesting. Olamide knows his way around indigenous Yoruba music, so the pairing makes sense.

Qdot appears on “UP UP WAY,” bringing his own street sound into the project. Then comes “APALA FUJI,” where Terry Apala joins Pasuma on the closing track. That combination is worth checking out, especially for listeners who enjoy Apala music.

The album also has some interesting solo records. “FAAJA” opens the collection, while “PREMIUM” arrives as one of the early songs introduced ahead of the full project. Other titles include “FUJI VIBEZ,” “PAYDAY,” “JAYE” and “CORNERSTONE.”

For those who remember My World, released in 2015, this album will bring back memories of Pasuma’s earlier attempts to take Fuji beyond its traditional audience. That project also featured Olamide, Phyno, Tiwa Savagee and Patoranking.

Released under Wasbar Records, FUJI AFRO runs for approximately 33 minutes. Pasuma also takes executive producer credit on the project.
