American pop singer Slayyyter explores the messy side of having a crush on “hey boyyy,” a new single from her forthcoming album, wor$t man in america.

The song starts with the familiar feeling of getting nervous around someone you like. However, Slayyyter takes that excitement somewhere a little darker. She sings about an attraction that becomes difficult to control, with the production matching the restless feelings behind the story.

“hey boyyy” has a noticeable electronic pop sound, drawing from electroclash, synth-pop and dance-punk. Producers Austin Corona and Wyatt Bernard handle the instrumental, while Slayyyter joins them on the songwriting. The track runs for approximately 4 minutes and 39 seconds.

The official music video is another interesting part of the release. Slayyyter directed the visual herself, taking viewers through Hollywood and Paris. Her romantic companion is not quite what viewers might expect – a golden skeleton accompanies her on what looks like a series of dates. The unusual idea gives the video a mixture of dark humour and romance.

The single is the fourth release from wor$t man in america, following “brand new chanel$,” “crank 2” and “i think he’s got a girl.” The forthcoming album is designed as a companion project to her earlier album, WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, exploring similar themes from another perspective.

Slayyyter continues to build her own space in electronic pop, and this latest release gives fans another look at her creative direction.
