South African Maskandi artist Mphathiwohlelo MC joins KaMaphanga and Yolokazi on “Uyangibambezela,” a new collaboration built around traditional Zulu music and storytelling.
The title carries a message that many people can relate to. “Uyangibambezela” translates to “You are holding me back” or “You are delaying me.” It speaks to situations where someone feels stuck because of another person’s actions. Mphathiwohlelo MC uses the song to explore this feeling through the storytelling style associated with Maskandi.
KaMaphanga and Yolokazi join him on the recording, bringing their own vocal contributions to the performance. Their appearances give the song a different feel from a solo recording, with each artist adding to the conversation behind the title.
Mphathiwohlelo MC also takes responsibility for the production alongside Thabiso Shange. The two artists help shape the instrumental around the traditional Maskandi sound, with its familiar guitar arrangements and rhythmic vocal delivery.
The songwriting credit goes to Nkosibonile Dlamini, while Thabiso Shange receives the composition credit. Mphathiwohlelo MC also receives production credit, showing his involvement beyond the lead performance.
“Uyangibambezela” runs for approximately 3 minutes and 42 seconds. It arrives under Mphathiwohlelo MC Entertainment, adding another collaboration to his growing catalogue. The singer previously released his 15-track album Ngathi Ngiyosebenza, which explored everyday struggles, hard work and family responsibilities through indigenous Zulu music.
This new release gives Maskandi listeners another recording to check out, especially those who enjoy songs built around relatable life experiences.
