Tunisian pop singer Mariem Noureddine joins Hammouda Fallah for a romantic record titled “Khtartek enta ya 3chiri.” The Arabic title, “اخترتك انت يا عشيري,” means “I chose you, my companion.”
Mariem Noureddine and Hammouda Fallah have teamed up before on “Dholm Ezzman.” The video already shows up on Tunisia’s YouTube trending list. So fans of Tunisian pop clearly wanted this reunion.
The song runs close to four minutes, so the story has room to unfold. Tunisian pop leans on bright rhythm and clear melody, and this record follows that path. Percussion keeps a lively pulse, while the voices carry the tune.
Mariem Noureddine sings with a warm, clear voice and a sweet tone. Hammouda Fallah answers with a rich, earthy tone that balances her sweetness. The dialogue between the two voices feels like a conversation between lovers. Meanwhile, the title sets the message: one person chooses the other.
This one works because the feeling is simple and the voices match well. Although the words are in Tunisian Arabic, the tenderness is easy to feel.
