Enugu based Nigerian gospel group, The Smart Crew, have released a spirited new single titled “Super Praise”, which is also the lead track and title of their Super Praise EP.
The Smart Crew have carved a niche for themselves in Nigerian gospel music with a fusion of modern praise themes, Afro-dancehall vibes and live instrumentation. “Super Praise” sits firmly within that tradition. However, as the EP’s title track, it carries more weight than a typical single because it sets the tone for everything else on the project.
The group’s producer MrSmart handles the sonic direction, and his fingerprints are easy to recognise. His approach gives The Smart Crew a consistency that many gospel acts struggle to maintain across a full project. Since the EP also features “Vigorous Praise,” released in May 2026, it is clear the group entered this season with a focused creative vision – high-tempo worship music that moves as much as it ministers.
What makes “Super Praise” interesting is how it bridges the gap between church and street. The Igbo gospel influences run deep throughout the record, yet the arrangement stays modern enough to travel beyond a strictly church audience. That balance is harder to achieve than it sounds. For fans of Nigerian gospel who want something celebratory and rooted at the same time, “Super Praise” arrives at exactly the right moment.
