Nigerian singer-songwriter and Kilogbede Records signee SSSoundGawd has put out a bold new solo single titled “SWAGGA,” and it arrives as his most confident statement yet as a rising act under one of Nigeria’s newer independent labels.
SSSoundGawd first drew attention through “Hey Mama,” a collaboration with his label boss Mavo and Ugandan singer-songwriter Joshua Baraka that gave him an early introduction to a wider audience. So “SWAGGA” carries a different kind of weight – it is his first major solo move, and the title alone tells you the energy he brought into the studio for this one.
The Kilogbede Records roster is still young, but it has been building steadily. Mavo’s own catalogue – which includes collaborations with Tiwa Savagee, Wande Coal, and Olamide — gives the label credibility that spills over onto every artist signed to it. For SSSoundGawd, operating within that environment means the expectations are already higher than they would be for most debut acts.
“SWAGGA” leans into confidence as its central theme. The title is not ironic or understated — it is a direct announcement from an artist who believes in where he is headed. That kind of unbothered self-assurance works best when the music actually backs it up, and SSSoundGawd seems aware of that responsibility. For fans already familiar with “Hey Mama,” this new release shows a different, more independent side of the artist – and that progression is exactly what a second release should do.
