Pop superstar Ariana Grande drops her eighth studio album “Petal” via BabyDoll Music and Republic Records.
The project arrives while she is midway through her Eternal Sunshine Tour. So the timing alone is significant. Grande described “Petal” as being full of life – about growing through the cracks of something cold, hard, and challenging. That framing sets the emotional tone clearly before a single track plays.
Co-executive produced with Ilya Salmanzadeh and seemingly feature-free across all 12 tracks, “Petal” signals a more self-contained creative vision. The lead single “Hate That I Made You Love Me” already reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. So the album arrives with real momentum, not just anticipation.
What makes this project interesting is the contrast with “Eternal Sunshine.” That album leaned into vulnerability in a specific, cinematic way. But “Petal” sounds like it is moving – growing past the hurt rather than sitting inside it. The floral imagery running through the campaign, from the cover art to the album title itself, reinforces that theme consistently.
Max Martin co-produced the lead single alongside Grande and Ilya, which keeps the album connected to the pop craftsmanship that defined her strongest commercial runs. Yet the BabyDoll Music imprint gives her full ownership over this chapter. Both things matter.
