South African Amapiano collective ATK MusiQ taps Lokzin Keyz and Mphow69 for another standout cut from “The Return” titled “Inhlonipho.”
The title means “Respect” in Zulu. But this is not a chest-thumping, look-at-me type of record. Instead, ATK MusiQ uses that concept to build something more grounded – a track that nods to the culture, the community, and the journey that brought them back after six years away from releasing a full project.
Mphow69 brings the kind of experienced energy that elevates any lineup he touches. His placement on this record feels earned rather than decorative. So does Lokzin Keyz, who adds keyboard-driven warmth that deepens the production without pulling it in a different direction. Both features serve the song rather than compete for it.
What makes “Inhlonipho” interesting within the wider “The Return” album is how it handles restraint. A lot of the tracks on this double album move with energy and urgency. But this one slows the tempo slightly and lets the feeling sit. Because of that shift in pace, it functions as one of the album’s more reflective moments – the kind of cut serious Amapiano listeners will keep coming back to.
ATK MusiQ has spent this comeback project showing exactly why the six-year gap did not hurt their quality. Though the hiatus was long, the output across “The Return” keeps proving the patience was worth it.
