Kenyan coastal music icon Susumila is back with a vibrant new Afropop single titled “Udambu,” produced by Tokal Beats and distributed through Africori.

Susumila has built his name on keeping the coastal Kenya sound alive without letting it feel frozen in time. So “Udambu” does exactly that. Tokal Beats constructs a rhythm-heavy foundation built on energetic percussion and melodic arrangements. But Susumila’s Swahili vocal delivery is what gives the record its identity. Because production can set the table – the voice is what makes people stay.

The track blends Coastal Bongo Flava tradition with contemporary Afropop energy. Yet it never forces the two together. Instead, the merger feels natural – the kind that happens when an artist knows both worlds well enough to move between them without losing footing. Listeners from the coast will feel the cultural textures immediately. But the modern production keeps the door open for wider East African and diaspora audiences too.

“Udambu” also arrives alongside an official music video. That full rollout approach separates this from a quiet audio drop. So Susumila clearly intends this one to travel, and the packaging supports that ambition.

Following his Radio Days album and the Nipishe EP, he keeps the 2026 output steady and purposeful. Though some artists slow down mid-year, Susumila shows no sign of that here. Each release adds to a body of work that continues to represent the Kenyan coast with real pride.
