Nigerian singer-songwriter Llona keeps the honesty flowing on “Turbulence,” another cut from his new album “On The Road.”
This one lands early in a twelve-track project that already includes Cry with Black Sherif and Different Pictures with Morrelo. Llona’s catalogue, stretching back to Homeless, has always leaned into emotional turmoil over easy hooks. Turbulence continues that pattern, using flight imagery to frame something rockier underneath. It’s a fitting title for an album literally called On The Road.
Production stays moody and layered, built around instrumentation that mirrors the song’s unsettled emotional state. Nothing here stays still for long. His voice carries genuine strain at points, never smoothing over the discomfort for the sake of polish. That willingness to sit in unease is exactly what makes his songwriting connect.
Turbulence works because Llona doesn’t resolve the tension too quickly, he lets the listener sit in it with him.
