Mavin Records star Ayra Starr turns to faith on “Letter To God,” a solo standout from her third studio album “Starrgirl.”
This record does something different from most of “Starrgirl.” Rather than addressing a lover directly, Ayra writes to God about a relationship she still believes in but no longer feels fully secure about. Outside opinions and rumours have started creeping into something that once felt untouchable, and instead of arguing back at those voices, she turns to prayer for reassurance. That choice says a lot about where she is emotionally on this project.
The production matches that vulnerability. D Phelps, Mamii, and Alissia lead the core sound, with additional work from The Elements, and the arrangement builds from piano and bass into a full-band crescendo that mirrors the emotional weight of the lyrics. Nothing here feels rushed. The musical space exists specifically to let her voice carry the tension at the centre of the song.
What stands out is how naturally faith and romance sit together without either one overpowering the other. This is not a gospel record dressed up as pop, and it is not a love song with religious language added for effect. It is genuinely both at once, which fits the more mature, reflective tone running through much of “Starrgirl.”
