Mosotho rapper Sannere sits with no feature at all on “Bohlaha Maru,” track eight on Pha Balimo 2.
Pha Balimo 2 landed August 19, 2026, across every major streaming platform, and “Bohlaha Maru” runs 3:55 – right in the middle of the album’s early stretch, sandwiched between the three-artist pairing on “Mokorotlo” and the six-minute “Mmammalo” that follows. Going solo here, right after a collaboration-heavy run, reads like a deliberate pause. Sannere lets his own voice carry things without anyone else in the room.
The song got its own official audio release, which isn’t automatic for every track on a 30-song project. That alone suggests the label sees something in “Bohlaha Maru” worth pushing separately from the album drop itself.
Sannere’s sound gets tagged Sotho hop – Famo storytelling traditions pushed through a modern hip hop frame. Pha Balimo, the album’s title, translates roughly to an offering to the ancestors, and that idea runs through the whole project: identity, spiritual guidance, resilience, the texture of everyday Basotho life. He worked the same ground on 2024’s original Pha Balimo and 2025’s Sehopotso, so none of this is new territory for him.
He didn’t oversell any of it either. The whole announcement was one Instagram caption: “Pha Balimo 2 album out now.” No countdown, no rollout campaign. Just the music.
Sannere Bohlaha Maru doesn’t need a co-sign to hold attention. It’s one more piece of a much larger structure – 30 songs deep, still rooted in the same well he’s been drawing from for two years running.
