Ghanaian rapper Amerado closes out his EP The Price of Becoming with “Pharaoh Remix,” pulling in reggae-dancehall names Epixode and Ras Kuuku for the send-off.
The track sits at the end of the project, produced by Shawerz Ebiem, and it works as a genre bridge rather than a straight rap cut. Amerado built his name on lyrical rap – he’s from Kumasi, curates Ghana’s first news-casting rap series Yeete Nsem, and has picked up Best Rapper honors at both the Ghana Music Awards and 3Music Awards. Putting Epixode and Ras Kuuku on the closing track pulls the EP toward reggae and dancehall territory just as it wraps.
That pairing isn’t random either. Epixode and Ras Kuuku have worked together before on other projects, so their chemistry on “Pharaoh Remix” isn’t being built from scratch. Epixode brings reggae-dancehall roots out of Jamestown, Accra, plus a visual-art background that includes designing Shatta Wale’s SM logo. Ras Kuuku, born in Accra in 1984, has spent years as one of Ghana’s steadier reggae-dancehall voices.
The production leans dark and dramatic – heavy basslines, punchy drums, tribal-leaning percussion under synth pads. Amerado rides that beat with his usual Akan-English wordplay, drawing a line between daily grind, political betrayal, and old power struggles. Epixode and Ras Kuuku then take over with raw toasts and chanting, keeping the intensity up rather than softening the record’s back half.
The EP itself moves across highlife, Afrobeats, reggae, and rap without losing Amerado at the center of it. A Skales feature on “Fountain” adds another cross-border layer earlier in the project, and “Return of the Lunatiic 2” keeps his straight rap side in view.
