South African singer Olefied Khetha brings in Big Zulu for a remix of his heartfelt single “iStepfather.” The original already carried real weight, inspired by his own relationship with his partner’s child.
Khetha’s said Olefied Khetha – iStep Father (Remix) comes from genuine experience, stepping into a fatherly role out of love rather than obligation. Big Zulu’s no stranger to Khetha either, they’ve already worked together before this remix.
Big Zulu, real name Siyabonga Nene, brings his signature Inkabi style on Olefied Khetha – iStep Father (Remix), a blend of Maskandi and hip hop delivered in IsiZulu. That rugged, grounded voice adds real contrast to Khetha’s softer, melodic original.
Khetha likely keeps his tender, heartfelt delivery intact here, the same sincerity that made the original resonate with listeners and even his girlfriend’s son.
Big Zulu probably brings weight and perspective to the remix, his own recent work on “Undodakazi” showed he’s no stranger to family-themed storytelling himself. That shared territory makes this pairing feel natural.
By the end, “iStepfather (Remix)” plays like a meaningful extension of an already personal record. Tender, grounded, built on real family themes from both artists.
