TML Vibez welcomes Chocolate City rapper Blaqbonez onto “Eko,” the thirteenth track on “A Street Kid’s Diary (Disc 2).”
Eko is the Yoruba name for Lagos, so the title already sets the mood. It is a city song, and two artists who know the city talk through it. Godomarr produced the record and kept an Afrobeats base that lets both styles work without clashing. TML Vibez brings melody, and Blaqbonez brings rap.
The two met earlier this year on “FINE SHYT,” which appeared on Blaqbonez’s “No Excuses Deluxe.” Back then, TML Vibez was the guest. Here the roles flip, and Blaqbonez steps into TML Vibez’s album. So this feels like a proper return, not a first meeting. A second link-up in one year hints at a real creative bond.
The sequencing helps too. “Close To You” sits right before it, and “Sexy Mama” with Mavo follows. That puts “Eko” at the start of the album’s closing stretch, where the guest list gets bigger again. Both artists have kept busy this year, so they bring fans from Afrobeats and Nigerian hip-hop alike.
Godomarr’s name keeps coming up across the album, and this credit adds another. It is a good fit for a song about Lagos.
Bump “Eko” and tell us – is this the best TML Vibez and Blaqbonez link-up so far?
