Rising Afrobeats act Halver pulls in Port Harcourt icon Duncan Mighty for a gritty new record titled “Hustler.”
Halver is a Port Harcourt-born Nigerian, but he travelled from Lagos to land this feature. Duncan Mighty is the “Port Harcourt 1st Son,” so the link feels meaningful. It’s also only Halver’s second official single, after “TasteMoney.”
David Cloud produces the Halver – Hustler, and MixGod handles the mixing and mastering. Live highlife instruments run under the street-pop drums, so the sound feels rooted. The groove stays lively, yet the mood turns serious when the story kicks in.
Halver tells his story with a raw, plain voice. He sings about money struggles, pain and the drive to survive. Because the lines feel lived in, the hustle sounds believable.
Duncan Mighty answers with his unmistakable South-South voice. He brings the weight of a long career. Meanwhile, the song also touches betrayal, so the hustle isn’t all celebration.
This one works because the message is real and the highlife touch is fresh. Although the story is rough, the melody keeps the mood lifted.
