Award-winning international DJ and curator DJames packs the year’s Afrobeats favourites into a mix titled “Best Afrobeats Mix 2024.” He’s also a producer and music editor.
DJames shared a similar mix to celebrate hitting 300,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok. So his audience already trusts his taste, and this mix leans on that trust. Afrobeats moved fast in 2024, so a year recap makes sense.
He loves a clever edit, like his “All Night Edit” and “Commas Edit.” Those edits add small twists, so familiar hits still feel new. Smooth blends keep the tempo steady, while the bass stays warm.
CULTUR FM once praised his wordplay blends, and that skill shows up in his sets. He moves from Nigerian hits to Ghanaian favourites without breaking the vibe. That makes the mix feel like a quick tour of West Africa.
Names like Kizz Daniel, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Victony have featured in his 2024 sets. Tyla’s “Jump” and Seyi Vibez’s “Cana” also turn up in those sets, so the range is wide.
This one works because it feels like a playlist made by a fan. Although it’s a recap, the edits keep it from feeling like a repeat.
