Nigerian rapper Davolee returns to his bar-heavy series with “Festival Of Barz II,” a sequel to his 2022 single.
The original “Festival Of Barz” came out in the summer of 2022, after he finished his debut studio project the year before. That record set the template. Davolee, whose real name is Oluwasegun David Shokoya, mixes Yoruba, English, and Pidgin in dense verses, and he treats the track like a showcase for pure bars. So a part two feels natural. Fans who loved the first one know the pattern: wordplay first, hook second.
The sequel idea is also not new for him. His “Festival Bar” EP, which holds four songs, already carried a “Festival Bar 2” track made with the producer Unbelievable Beats. That track opens by announcing “part two” and then moves through street memories and hard-earned lessons. The new “Festival Of Barz II” continues that conversation, and it keeps the series name alive.
Davolee has built a steady catalogue beyond this series. “Earning Wish” runs to 15 songs, “Na My Shoe I Buckle” has 11, and the “Jollof Christmas” single added a holiday touch. That range shows a rapper who can switch between serious bars and playful themes, yet always keeps his Yoruba edge.
Details on the new record’s production are still thin, so the best test is to listen closely. Rap fans who enjoy layered Yoruba wordplay should find plenty to unpack.
Rap along with “Festival Of Barz II” and tell us – does the sequel beat the original?
