French duo Justice teams up with Tame Impala and SZA on “Flower In A Hurricane,” the GTA VI trailer song.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard also appear, and the whole lineup arrived with the game’s launch trailer. Rockstar Games confirmed that Justice composed the entire original score, so this single acts as the first big look at their work. It also reunites the duo with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. They won a Grammy together for “Neverender,” Tame Impala’s first, and “One Night/All Night” sits beside it on Justice’s 2024 album “Hyperdrama.”
The sound is big and driving. Swirling synths set the pace, and crunchy guitar keeps the edge. Parker and SZA trade lines and then blend in harmony, which adds an R&B shine to Justice’s heavy electronic style. Parker is also credited on guitar. One riff has drawn comparisons to Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing,” and that has fans debating online. Either way, the song fits the neon, retro mood of Vice City.
The track also belongs to a larger project. “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album” holds 34 original songs written for the game, and it lands the same day the game does. Keith Richards, Cardi B, and Travis Scott are among the names announced so far.
For African listeners who follow global pop and gaming culture, this release shows how large music’s role in games has become. A game trailer can now launch a full single.
Ride out “Flower In A Hurricane” and tell us – does it sound like Vice City to you?
