Neo-soul favourite Tay Iwar eases into an intimate new record titled “NEXT2U.” The title says it all, since he just wants to be close.
Tay Iwar is no stranger to big rooms, having sung on Wizkid’s “True Love.” He also earned Headies nods for “Utero” and “Peaking.” Still, he keeps coming back to small, personal moments.
The production stays minimal, with a slow pulse and light synth washes. Space is the main ingredient, so every drum tap is easy to catch.
Tay Iwar leans into a whispery delivery. He stacks his own harmonies, and they wrap around the lead voice like a blanket.
The lyrics sound like a love note with no big drama. He just wants her near, whatever the night brings.
Tay Iwar keeps the arrangement tight and the mood steady. Nothing wanders off, so the record plays like one calm thought.
