Durban rapper Okmalumkoolkat closes his iTheku eThekwini album with Lomdlalo Ozigcawu-gcawu Outro, a closer featuring Vienna producer Cid Rim.
Lomdlalo Ozigcawu-gcawu Outro is track 11 of 11, so it is the last thing you hear. It runs just over two minutes, so it works as a quick goodbye rather than a full song. The album starts with eThekwini Intro, so the two tracks frame the project.
Cid Rim is the guest here. He is a Vienna producer on the LuckyMe label and a partner at Affine Records. Okmalumkoolkat first worked with him during a South African tour that stopped in Johannesburg and Cape Town. That link led to the Holy Oxygen EPs, which also carry The Clonious.
Okmalumkoolkat comes from Umlazi, in Durban. Fans may know him from Gusheshe, his hit with Cassper Nyovest. His international breakthrough came earlier, on LV’s album Sebenza for Hyperdub. Holy Oxygen I, made with Cid Rim, then became his first solo EP.
He moves between Zulu and English, and he drops in slang of his own. The album title uses Zulu names for Durban, so the project points straight home.
Run Lomdlalo Ozigcawu-gcawu Outro after the other ten tracks and tell us in the comments how it lands.
