Talented music artist L.A.X brings DOTTi The Deity onto “IYAWO,” a love-themed cut tied to his album “The Only Lover Boy Left.”

The pairing is an interesting one. L.A.X works in melodic Afrobeats and Afropop. DOTTi comes from a different corner. He mixes Yoruba folk traditions with soul and jazz. He also won the 2025 Future Awards Africa Prize for Music. So two sets of instincts meet in the middle here.

“Iyawo” is the Yoruba word for wife or bride. The song leans into that theme. It celebrates love and commitment, and it suits wedding and engagement playlists. But it stays smooth rather than showy.

The record runs three minutes and thirty-four seconds. That is short enough to replay without much thought. Also, the album title already frames L.A.X as a lover boy, and this feature fits that image.

For L.A.X, working with an artist outside his usual Afropop circle opens a door. It could bring in listeners who like culturally rooted songwriting. DOTTi, meanwhile, gets a wider platform for his sound.
