Nigerian singer-songwriter Winny returns with “One Day,” a reggae-influenced Afrobeats record about faith, patience and protecting personal peace.

The song speaks to anyone dealing with difficult moments while trying to keep their life together. Winny doesn’t pretend that everything is perfect. Instead, she sings about believing that things will eventually get better, even when the present feels uncomfortable. There is also a message for people who constantly bring unnecessary trouble into someone else’s life.

The production comes from Puffybeatz, who builds the instrumental around reggae-inspired guitar and gentle percussion. Winny brings her textured vocals to the recording, moving between Afrobeats, reggae and R&B influences. The result has a relaxed feel, but the message carries some weight.

Winny, whose full name is Winifred Ohili Adanu, hails from the Idoma community in Benue State and grew up in Jos. She has been developing her sound through a mixture of reggae, Afropop and alternative R&B. Her earlier releases include the self-titled debut EP and Commercial Break, which featured American singer Thutmose and Jamaican artist Projexx.

She also caught international attention through collaborations with Rudimental and Original Koffee on “Send Shots.” Fred again.. and Sammy Virji later sampled her earlier music for their track “Winny.”

Now, “One Day” brings the attention back to her solo music. Winny says the song is about keeping faith and refusing to let other people disturb your peace. She also has a larger project planned for 2027.
