DK47, the incredible Zambian recording artist drops this exceptional body of work titled Maya (Album)
Fitting, in a way. That track sat right in the middle of everything, not fully heavy, not fully light, and now it’s the name holding the whole project together. A name that never picked a side ends up describing an album that doesn’t either.
The sound spans wider here, that same low bassline and thin log drum running through most of it, though a few cuts loosen up unexpectedly. “Coke Na Fanta” energy shows up here and there, “Nchito Ya Yesu” reverence elsewhere, neither one crowding the other out.
