Erigga pulls his last six singles together into “North & South,” and after two distinct three-song runs with EESKAY and Cleanblack, the album title finally names what’s been building the whole time.
North and south as a frame makes sense looking back now. The first run, “Locked In,” “Usumanu And Kevwe,” “Reckoning,” moved through discipline, storytelling, consequence, heavier the whole way through. The second run lightened up before circling back to something more measured, “Cana Fairy” loosening things, “North South” finding middle ground, “Two Strips” tightening again. Two directions, same crew, same restless movement between them.
