South African Maskandi artist UMlandomuhle releases a heartfelt seven-track EP titled “Asvele Sduke” under MQS MEDIA featuring Jikijiki and Amahle Dlamini.
The project sits firmly in the traditional Maskandi world – acoustic guitar riffs, soulful Zulu vocals, and deep cultural storytelling running through every track. But UMlandomuhle does not present this as a preservation exercise. The production stays polished enough to feel current while the cultural roots remain intact throughout. So the EP speaks to both longtime Maskandi fans and younger listeners who connect with traditional sounds through more contemporary arrangements.
Jikijiki’s appearances across multiple tracks give the project its most energetic collaborative moments. Their chemistry already showed on the lead single “Asvele Sduke” before the full EP arrived. But Amahle Dlamini’s contribution on “THEMBALAMI” adds the emotional warmth that gives the project textural range. So both collaborators serve specific purposes rather than simply filling featured slots.
The themes running through “Asvele Sduke” cover life, relationships, perseverance, and personal experience rooted in Zulu cultural identity.
