Ugandan gospel singer Best Emily delivers a heartfelt cover of “Ayi Yesu Nkunzi Yangye,” uploaded through Music For All from Ibanda, Uganda.

The title translates to “Oh Jesus My Strength” in Runyankole – and that declaration says everything about where this record sits spiritually. Best Emily does not approach it gently. She brings full vocal commitment to a phrase that East African Christians have sung across decades of church worship. But her version makes the familiar feel personal rather than performed.

“Ayi Yesu Nkunzi Yangye” has been part of Western Uganda’s gospel music tradition for years. But cover versions of beloved worship songs earn their place when the new voice adds something the original could not offer. So Best Emily does not simply reproduce what came before. She brings her own emotional weight to the material and gives it a fresh intimacy.

At three minutes and thirty-six seconds, the record stays focused. Nothing overstays. The production keeps things simple throughout – because this kind of worship song does not need elaborate arrangement. It needs conviction. And Best Emily delivers that from the first bar to the last.

Ibanda has produced consistent gospel voices across Uganda’s Western region. But Best Emily’s presence on Audiomack through Music For All shows an artist building an audience beyond the local church setting. Because worship music that travels from a Sunday service to a streaming platform reaches people who need it in their own private moments – and that kind of reach matters.
