Multi-talented pop star and songwriter Billie Eilish gets a second look with BIRDS OF A FEATHER, from Hit Me Hard and Soft.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER is track four on the album, and Billie wrote it with her brother Finneas. The two spent close to a year on it. Billie nearly cut it, because she thought it was a bit silly.
The title borrows from the old proverb about birds of a feather flocking together. Billie sings about a love she wants to last, even past the grave. Still, she has said she wanted it to feel a little toxic. Finneas also said the idea was to flip the usual song about dying for someone.
It reached number two on the UK Official Singles Chart. In the US, it has even gone four times platinum. Billboard’s Global 200 also had it at number one for three weeks. It drew Grammy nominations for Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
A snippet showed up in the trailer for season three of Heartstopper. Billie said the song held the highest belt of her career at that point. In the video, an invisible force drags her through an empty office building.
