Boy Spyce – Talk

Boy Spyce is giving people a reason to pay attention to his new EP, and “Talk” is one of the records doing that work quietly.

The DMW act dropped “RED PILL” recently, and this particular track is finding its way onto people’s lips for good reason.

“Talk” has a smooth, conversational energy to it. The beat is laid back without being lazy – enough is going on in the production to keep your ears busy while Boy Spyce does his thing on top of it. It sounds like a song he made because he had something to say, not because he needed to fill a slot on the tracklist.

The lyrics lean into confidence and self-assurance. Boy Spyce is basically telling anyone who doubted him or talked down on his journey to watch how things unfold. It is not an aggressive record, though. He delivers the message with a cool head and a steady voice, which actually makes it hit harder than if he had come out swinging.

His pen is showing on this one. The lines are direct, easy to follow, but there is enough thought behind them to make you replay certain parts just to catch everything.

Within the context of the “RED PILL” EP, “Talk” feels like one of the more personal moments on the project. It sits well among the other tracks and adds to the overall picture Boy Spyce is painting with this body of work.
