Zambian rising act Choncho takes on the WYFL Riddim with Mixtape Freestyle, a cut under two minutes produced by T-Core.

Jamaican producer DJ Mac and CrashDummy built the WYFL Riddim. It has since pulled in Vybz Kartel and Mavado, who share a riddim for the first time in years. Fabolous and Shatta Wale have also jumped on it. Skippa’s WYFL carries the riddim’s own name.

Fabolous previewed his freestyle at Vacae Weekend in Jamaica, and the crowd locked in on the dancehall-driven beat. DJ Mac found out only after it circulated online, though he took the surprise well. So the riddim keeps spreading well past Jamaica. Canadian Tamil rapper B-Sav flipped it as Kavanam Riddim.

Choncho is billed as a rising Zambian artist. A listing links his audience to the Copperbelt and beyond. Mixtape Freestyle keeps things tight at under two minutes, so it moves fast. Credits name T-Core as producer on this version.

A DJ Wass remix pack gathers Mavado’s Big Gvns and Masicka’s 20 Matic over the riddim. Crash Dummy has also answered critics who say the riddim should wrap up. Rayvon’s Hydraulics and I-Octane’s Top Gyalis are also on it. Crank up Mixtape Freestyle and tell us in the comments – should the WYFL riddim keep going or wrap up?
