DJ Katch turns D’banj’s Afrobeats classic into a club weapon with the official “Oliver Twist” remix, built for big rooms.

The story began as a bootleg. Katch made his own edit for his DJ sets, where it quickly became a crowd favourite. The edit then reached D’banj through the A&R team at Cinq Music. D’banj loved what he heard, so the bootleg grew into an official remix. That path is a good sign, because it means the version earned its place on dance floors before anyone ordered it.

The sound pairs D’banj’s original vocals with punchy, festival-ready production. It blends Afrobeats with the European club style that Katch has pushed for years, and the result suits clubs, festivals, and short social clips. Two versions are available. The Main Mix is for streaming and radio, and the Extended Mix is for DJs, so people can play it straight from their streaming-connected setups.

The timing matters too. “Oliver Twist” arrived in 2011, helped carry Afrobeats from Lagos to the UK charts, and came out of the end of the Mo’ Hits era with Don Jazzy at the controls. In August 2025, Billboard ranked it number seven on its list of the 50 best Afrobeats songs of all time, and this remix marks the song’s 15th anniversary. Old favourites often find new life this way.

For fans who grew up dancing to the original, this remix is a fun reset. For younger listeners, it works as a simple introduction to a classic.
