Three voices join DJ Obza on “Sthunywa,” and none of them rush to fill the space and this banger becomes more fascinating than ever.
That restraint is the whole point with a DJ Obza record, usually. Bassline stays deep, log drum patient, giving Nxani Rsa room to open things gently before anyone else steps in.
1st Lady K comes in with more edge, a sharper texture against the softness Nxani set up first. Greffen Punkk rounds it out last, quieter than both, more presence than performance.
Nobody’s really singing over the other here. It plays more like three people taking turns in the same conversation, none of them raising their voice to be heard.
Sthunywa means being sent, more or less, and there’s a patience in the delivery that fits that idea. Nothing urgent about arriving somewhere.
