DrummeRTee924 links up with TheBunny04 on “Is Just A Bass (Cyborg),” the closing track of his seven-song album “The Upcomings.”
TheBunny04 is no stranger to this project. He also appears on the opener, “The War Drum Machine (TWDM).” So the album starts and ends with the same collaborator. That framing looks deliberate.
The two have worked together for a while now. “The Earthquake Bassline,” “SGD-Stena Log,” and “Jaiva 010” all carry both names. They also teamed up with Deep6 on “Backdrop Bass (iAura Le Way).” That history explains why the pairing feels so settled.
DrummeRTee924 sits in the township electronic lane. His records lean on heavy low end and percussion. But “The Upcomings” also gives room to other voices. Djybee 310, Tailer De Musiq, SilverDeep838, UncleTallz, Youngckrazy, and Mavula108 all show up across the tracklist.
Ending on a TheBunny04 record makes sense. Fans of the earlier bass-driven releases will probably hear the connection straight away. Also, closing tracks usually hint at where an artist is heading next.
