Dzo 729 reunites with Mitjo SA, Prozthefuture, Mr Paper, and Future Saxo on “Qoma” – another well crafted entry off the “Mapule” EP.

Qoma” carries a direct and bold romantic meaning in Zulu – essentially asking someone to commit and choose you. So the song arrives with a confident and forward energy that separates it emotionally from the more longing and reflective records elsewhere on the project.

The production is vibrant and driven with Future Saxo‘s saxophone pushing the record forward with that live warmth that has become a defining sound across several moments on the EP. Meanwhile the beat underneath moves with enough bounce to give the song a celebratory quality that suits the boldness of the theme.

Dzo 729 leads with conviction and Mitjo SA follows with his reliable smoothness. Mr Paper brings a sharpness to his section that adds an interesting contrast while Prozthefuture closes things out with an energy that gives “Qoma” its final confident push.

Although this group has collaborated multiple times across the EP their dynamic on “Qoma” feels fresh because the material pulls a different performance out of each of them.

Stream the full “Mapule” EP and let “Qoma” be the record that makes you want to shoot your shot. Dzo 729 and his collaborators make it sound easy.
